1-2 Classic in Bethesda

Another classic in Bethesda Maryland as Prep (13-3, Post #1) and Landon (12-3, Post #2) battle for the top of the Washington DC high schools standings and the IAC lacrosse title.   Prep wins 4-3 in a defensive battle with a late score in the 3rd period from Pat Glading (brother of Danny Glading, 2005 All Met Player of the Year and Prep alum).

SmartLink Day of Rivals

Shot the SmartLink Day of Rivals Army vs. Navy game on Saturday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.   Had a great time and these games in the big stadiums are always fun.   Great to see both the competitive spirit between Army and Navy (they just don’t like each other) as well as the brotherhood between our future Officers.

The stadium security was in place to keep everyone on the lower level seat and they had the upper levels of the stadium blocked off.  I wanted to get a shot from the top to show the entire stadium with a 15mm Fisheye lens.   Finally convinced one of the yellow jacket “guards” let me up and had to hold open the doors on the 500 level with a piece of wood to let me back in.  When the door to the elevator opened the attendant had this curious look on why the elevator was going all the way up to the 500 level, all I said was don’t ask.

Changing of the Guard in the WCAC

New teams at the top of the WCAC lacrosse standings, with Gonzaga (Washington Post #7) taking on Good Counsel in Olney Maryland Friday evening.   Gonzaga (10-2, 4-0 WCAC) recently defeated DeMath and Good Counsel (5-6, 3-1 WCAC) defeated traditional lacrosse power St. Mary's Ryken earlier in the week.

Georgetown University vs Mount St. Mary's

No. 9 Georgetown held Mount St. Mary's to only one first half goal en route to an 11-6 win on Wednesday night at the Multi-Purpose field. The Mount kept it close for a while and their family and fans thought they might be able to pull off an upset, but Georgetown scored eight goals in the second half to pull away.
Another great showing from the Georgetown Prep alums, junior Brian Tabb and junior Ryan Shuler

Looking forward to covering the next game on Sunday when Georgetown will host Big East rival Notre Dame. This game will feature 12 Georgetown Prep alums between GT and ND.  The game will be shown live on ESPNU with my favorite Caps announcer Joe Beninati calling the game.

IAC vs MIAA High School

Washington extends its dominance over Baltimore with a Landon win over Gilman.  The IAC with Prep, SSSA and Landon is the conference to beat this year.

Loyola in ECAC win over Ohio State

#12 Loyola University Maryland scored first and often and defeated visiting Ohio State, 11-9, in ECAC Lacrosse League action on Saturday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex.  This is the first I visited the new home for Loyola lacrosse at the Ridley Athletic Complex.  This new athletic complex looks great and upgrades the Loyola program.
