Sometimes a Mess Up Works Out

Sure was not paying attention and I must have bumped my camera settings and now I am shooting at 1/90 sec, f/8 for half the game.   A few made for an interesting effect, somewhat a salvage.

The place to be in Bethesda on Friday night

Always a great crowd at the annual Prep vs Landon game and this year did not disappoint.   This this game is usually held on a weekday afternoon and this year the game was held on Friday evening at the Georgetown Prep campus.  One of my favorites and here are a few samples.   See the rest of the game shots at www.powerplayphotography.   Also featured on DC Sports Fan and at Inside Lacrosse photo of the week.  

All Good Things Must Change

Prep was the place to be in Bethesda on friday night and a great game with Gonzaga (DC #2) finally beating Georgetown Prep (DC #1) for the first time 25 games.   Great crowd and good for Gonzaga for a nice win.   Click here for more game photos at PowerPlay.   Washington DC sports photography by Mike Bahniuk. 

Prep vs Landon Round II - IAC Championship

No more Co-Champions in the IAC, this was the first year that the winner of the the championship game is the IAC Champion.  Georgetown Prep beat the favored Bears (7-6 OT) in front of a great crowd at Landon.  Nice job Prep as the 2011 IAC Lacrosse Champions.

Still the Best High School Lacrosse Game in DC

Georgetown Prep vs. Landon is still one high school lacrosse game I look forward to each year.  The game today was close for while and then Landon got the best of Prep in the face-off department and pulled ahead for a 10-5 win.   Hope you enjoy my shots from the game, see the rest here. 

Instant Classic in DC

Prep vs. Gonzaga is one of the best high school rivals in the area, but in terms of lacrosse the Hoyas have had the best of the Eagles.   Gonzaga was all over Prep with a 6-3 lead late in the fourth quarter and you could hear the nervous excitement from the Gonzaga bench, fans and family as this might be the year for a win over their cross-town Jesuit rivals.  Then Prep turned it on and tied the game with 1:33 left forcing overtime and a 7-6 win.   Gonzaga is a favorite of mine to shoot games with some great backgrounds and with 4:30 PM start some great afternoon light.   Check out more of my game photos here and a DC Sports Fan recap and photo highlight on Inside Lacrosse.

Skins-Boys, Caps-Pens, Prep-Landon...

This is one of my favorites and I look forward to this IAC match-up each year.   You can feel the pre-game excitement of a pro playoff game as the players warn-up and the fans arrive.  One thing for sure, no matter the record, there are no favorites in Prep Landon lacrosse games (Prep beat Gonzaga by 12 earlier in the season and Landon then lost to Gonzaga 6-7).  Prep Landon has to be on the DC sports landscape as a must see.
